Daisy Wood writing as Jennie Walters: Thelma and Louise in wartime London. Two women meet by chance during a bombing raid in World War Two and seize the chance to escape their humdrum lives and start anew. How long can they stay under the radar, and what disasters lie ahead when their carefully constructed world falls apart?

'Just like that, this went from a good book to a brilliant book. Honestly, I didn't see the plot twist coming' Reader review

'Brilliant character development, absolute page turner, very well-written' Reader review

Update post.

So pleased to say I have a new book publishing very soon, on 26 March - The Secrets of Provence. This is a companion volume to The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris, following the adventures of Mathilde Duval when she's forced to leave her beloved bookseller husband Jacques behind in Paris and flee to the south of France. Here she becomes even deeper enmeshed with the Resistance, leading a life that tests her courage and resourcefulness to the full. A greater love than she has ever known lies waiting for her in Provence - and a secret she must keep for the rest of her life.

Some early reviews:

'I found myself open mouth gasping by the end of the book, where it felt like anything could’ve happened to the characters at any moment. The detailed character development was something that held me the closest to this story and I found myself really invested in how this was going to resolve. If you enjoy dual timelines, historical WWII fiction, and the suspense of discovering hidden family history, this story is for you!'

'This beautiful read is a captivating historical novel that skilfully weaves together two different timelines to tell a story of courage and hidden history... I adored every page.'

'I picked up this novel not knowing it is a spinoff from a previous novel by Wood - The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris. I have not read that novel, and can share that readers can definitely enjoy this book without having read the previous book. I am very excited to go back and read The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris for the other side of this amazing story!'

Update post.

So happy to say that I have a new book publishing on 10 April: 'The Banned Books of Berlin'. This one took me a while to write but I was pretty happy with it in the end. My husband thinks it's my best novel so far, but I'm still not sure. Will wait (nervously!) to hear what you all think. Have been getting some lovely reviews on Netgalley, though, so fingers crossed!
